The Lexitron is an arcade cabinet made by Lexington developers for Lexington developers, using as many local resources as possible.
The Lexitron was constructed primarily through RunJumpDev, as well as in collaboration with professional game companies like Super Soul and Shobu Games, and other organizations like Awesome Inc and Collexion.
Since the Geeks Night Out debut, the cabinet has been to PAX East in Boston, as well as across the state in several different game developers events like Lexington Comic and Toy Expo and Louisville Arcade Expo. The cabinet was featured in Game On in Danville, has been set up at Awesome Inc and Kre8Now Makerspace, and at the Lexington Public library as a part of an exhibition for Ready, Player One. The Lexitron continues to tour local businesses and organizations.
RunJumpDev had been throwing around the idea of the Lexitron for years, and in 2013 it became a reality. With the help of Collexion hackerspace and the video game community, the Lexitron was a community project between the KY Makerspace community and local developers.
Check out the timelapse below that covers the entire construction of the Lexitron.
